LLH offers both classroom and distance learning for a number of topics:
Communications
This course focuses on skills for enhancing interpersonal communications. Students will gain insight into aspects of everyday life that affect communication processes between two or more people. Students will learn that it takes a concerted effort to communicate effectively, and to check their communications channels through feedback mechanisms.
Facilitation
The Facilitation Course examines the basic skills necessary to perform as a small group facilitator. In this course, the student will gain an understanding of the facilitation process, group dynamics, effective and efficient communication skills, and the role of the facilitator. Completion of this course will give students the tools needed to enhance their abilities as a small group facilitator.
Mediation
The Mediation course is designed to provide students with a foundation in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques, using a proven mediation process. The student will gain an understanding of the principles of mediation. Students of the course will learn valuable tools useful while serving as a mediator during disputes.
Project Management
The Project Management course gives students an overview of the fundamentals; from the selection of a project, through the final reporting phases, to capturing lessons learned from a particular project. Students will explore project management techniques and skills from renowned sources like the Project Management Institute (PMI). With course completion, students will have the requisite basic knowledge to function as a Project Manager.
Prevention of Sexual Harassment
Students completing the Prevention of Sexual Harassment course will have an understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment, insight into the impacts of sexual harassment on an organization, and knowledge of methods to cope with sexual harassment. Students will be able to identify sexually harassing behaviors, employ techniques to prevent sexual harassment, and understand reporting requirements.
Extremist Groups and Gangs
An overview to assist the student with an understanding of the different types of extremist, supremacist, militia and gang organizations is the core of the Extremist Groups and Gangs course. Student are given information about various aspects of these organizations, how to recognize them, and some tools for intervention without becoming a victim. Students also get information regarding local groups, information pertaining to current activities in the local area, and contact listings for reporting extremist and gang activities.
